I’m going to try to catch up on blogging since I finally finished my new website but words aren’t my thing (I prefer to just take pretty photos) so we’ll see how this goes haha!
Honestly, I don’t even know what to say for this post because this adorable and intimate backyard wedding for my best friend who was so much like a brother to me in college and his beautiful bride just meant the world to me and I know that I could never type out the words to truly express how I felt about this day. But I’ll try! So let’s start with the fact the G proposed to Katelyn on April Fools Day…I’m not joking but I did think he was lol. I saw a post on Instagram probably with the ring and I was like “haha very funny G”…but come to find out, he was serious! Who proposes on April Fools Day!? Only G ha! Well probably not…maybe I should look up some stats on that. I was so bummed I couldn’t be there that day because it looked like such a sweet day but they were in Texas and I was in Cleveland (sigh). But I was so touched when G asked about me possibly photographing the day and even though I was sad that I wouldn’t be able to be a groomsmen (just kidding, G said he wouldn’t let me anyway! pssh) I felt so blessed to be asked to capture such a special day for someone who is so special to me and his sweet bride!
They decided to get married in Katelyn’s backyard at her parent’s house in Iowa. They mostly had everything done/made for their wedding by people they knew, friends and family which I can only imagine made the day that much more special to them. They had a beautiful, Christ centered ceremony that included a foot washing ceremony as well which shows humility, service and love. “This act is more than a symbol. It is a vow to always remain in a humble position – to lift up the other, even when it may be at great cost to ones self. It is a reminder to love and serve like Jesus has so greatly loved and served us – even and especially in the messes.” I am not sure who this quote is from from but I think it fits perfectly!
One of my favorite parts of their wedding was when their officiate, Ken, who G met while he was in college, got choked up when he went to announce them as husband and wife and had to have the best man step in to help out…I cried then, I cried when I was editing those images and I cried again making this blog post lol. I lose it when I see other people get emotional and it was so clear on his face that he was overcome with such emotion, love and joy for them that he just couldn’t contain it. Those are some of my favorite photos from this day. My heart just loves those emotion filled images! Alright, I’m done blabbing and getting emotional all over again- so here are some photos from Genaro and Katelyn’s intimate Iowa wedding! So press play below and listen to a pretty song while looking at some pretty photos 😉 also…the bride and her bridesmaids though!? Look at them!!!
