Okay, let’s talk about the perfect backdrop for your epic summer senior photos. We want a location that is beautiful of course and ideally, reflects your personality. Here are some ideas to get your creativity flowing:
Let’s talk outfits, ladies! It’s time to bring your A-game and show off your personal style. Here are some tips to help you slay your summer senior photoshoot:
Summer is all about fun and vibrant colors. So, let’s amp up the energy with some bold and playful outfits. Think cheerful yellows, pretty pinks, and electric blues. The world is your runway, and you’re the star!
I know summer can be sizzling hot, so let’s keep it breezy and comfortable. Choose lightweight fabrics like flowy dresses, skirts, or shorts with cute tops when you can. Jeans are always a plus too and give you more variety in your session. Make sure you can actually sit and your jeans and still feel comfy though! Try to avoid ONLY wearing short bottoms like short dresses, skirts or shorts. Wearing bottoms that are too short and/ or tight will limit what you can do when it comes to poses. If you want more variety in your pictures, add more variety with your clothes.
This is your moment to shine, so don’t hold back! Let your outfits reflect your unique personality. Whether you’re a boho babe, a laid-back cool chick, or a glam diva, own it! Be true to yourself and let your style do the talking. I always say to wear what makes you feel the most confident AND comfortable! Don’t let that scare you from trying something different though! Even if you wouldn’t usually wear a super dressy dress, don’t feel like you can’t wear one for your senior photos! If you feel beautiful in it, bring it! These are YOUR photos, go all out if you want to!
You can add some extra pizzazz to your look with killer accessories. Necklaces, bracelets, lots of rings, sunglasses, and cute hats can take your outfit to the next level. Don’t be afraid to experiment and have fun with your accessories. Are you not much of an accessory girl? That’s ok too! Don’t worry.
We can’t forget about the finishing touches, honey! Your hair and makeup should be on point to complete your stunning look. Here are some tips to help you rock that effortless beauty:
Keep your hair style relaxed and easygoing, just like summer. Go for tousled beach waves, a cute braided updo, or a stylish top knot. Effortless, yet stunning! You’ll have that “I woke up like this” vibe nailed down. If your hair is naturally curly, don’t be afraid to wear it curly! Something to keep in mind is if you are a curly girl and your shoot is in the summer, your hair will probably get hot and sweaty. If you decide to straighten your hair, and you get sweaty, your hair might also end up looking frizzy. You can bring hair spray to help with that but it might also be easier to just work WITH your hair and wear it curly vs trying to force it to be straight. If your hair doesn’t hold a curl very well, try sleeping with your hair in braids the night before your shoot to help give it some more curl!
Let your natural beauty shine through with a touch of makeup magic. No worries, I’m not talking heavy glam if you don’t want to do a full face of makeup! We want that fresh-faced, natural beauty to radiate in your photos. Here are some tips for a flawless, effortless makeup look:
Alright, gorgeous, it’s time to work that camera! If you are one of my seniors, don’t worry I have you covered when it comes to posing! I will give you all the direction you need during your photos shoot! But for anyone else reading this, here are some posing tips to make you look like a pro:

Interested in cottage core vibes? These dress options would be so pretty!

Especially if you wear any kind of higher rise jeans, I would recommend you wear either a crop top or a body suit. Wearing a longer tight shirt over top of your jeans doesn’t look the best in photos so I would avoid that or tuck the shirt in if that looks ok.
Do you have a band tee that you are obsessed with? Wear it! I don’t believe in the idea that you can’t wear graphic tees for your senior pictures. These are your pictures and you should wear would you love! This look from Free People or American Eagle would be perfect!
Now, let’s address some of the burning questions you may have about your summer senior photoshoot:
Q: How far in advance should I book my photoshoot? A: It’s best to book your photoshoot at least a month in advance to secure your preferred date and time. Summer is a popular season, so don’t wait too long!
Q: What should I bring to the photoshoot? A: Pack a small bag with any outfit changes, accessories, touch-up makeup, and hair essentials. Don’t forget water and snacks to keep you energized throughout the shoot.
Q: Can I bring props to my photoshoot? A: Absolutely! Props can add a personal touch to your photos and make them even more memorable. Consider bringing items like a bouquet of flowers, your favorite book, or a musical instrument.
Q: Should I bring a friend or family member to the photoshoot? A: It’s totally up to you! Having a supportive friend or family member can help you feel more relaxed and comfortable during the shoot. Just make sure they’re ready to cheer you on and not steal the spotlight!
Q: How long will the photoshoot last? A: The duration of the photoshoot can vary depending on the package you choose and the number of locations/outfit changes. Typically, plan for around 1-2 hours, but be prepared to enjoy every moment!
Your summer senior photoshoot is an opportunity to capture the essence of this exciting chapter in your life. Remember to have fun, be yourself, and let your unique personality shine through! Try not to over think it. Wear what you feel the best in! You’ll rock it!
